What is your role at Verdant TCS?
VP of Operations and Technology.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?
I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I’m a Badger through and through, so don’t hold that against me Michigan and Michigan State fans. I started my career in the auto industry and attended Northwood University where I dual-majored in Marketing and Management. I met my amazing life partner while attending college and we now have two wild and crazy boys. We lived in Wisconsin until 2015 and then relocated back to my wife’s roots here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I love to play hockey, archery hunt whitetails, and relax on our boat in Grand Haven on the weekends.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
I’ll refer to the expert. My wife Anna says “Driven, light-hearted, & analytical.”
What does your typical day look like?
A typical day in the life for me at Verdant usually consists of checking emails, then jumping into our RMM dashboard and our MSP dashboard to check on the status of the clients we are servicing. Next, I dive into our project management system to see what tasks are scheduled for the day and verify those tasks with our team. When we’re onboarding a new client, it gets a bit more dynamic and can change from day-to-day.
What do you like most about Verdant TCS?
I love the culture and the team. When you’re a smaller company, you really get to know your co-workers. We’re flexible and all have the same goal in mind, the success of our clients.
Before working at Verdant TCS, what was the most interesting job you ever had?
Farming. Growing up in Wisconsin, my family roots run deep in farming. Each summer, my dad would take me to the extended family farm where I’d work for a few weeks. From milking cows, to driving tractors, to stacking hay bales, we did it all. It was hard, fun, and gave me a high-level of respect for what they do 24/7, 365 days a year.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled and why?
Athens, Greece to Istanbul, Turkey. The islands were beautiful and the history and culture were amazing. Santorini was probably our favorite stop along the way. The place I was most in awe of though, was probably Ephesus. The history, the scale, and the technologies they had in place so long ago blew me away.
What is the most recent app you have downloaded, but are yet to use?
HBO MAX. We get it free with our Wireless Package, but we don’t have time to watch TV.
What is your favorite piece of throwback technology?
Nintendo, for sure. It was my first gaming console and we still love playing it a couple of times a year.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pork chops.
